Ana Lorena Nuñez

Ana Lorena Núñez is a visual artist consistent with her influences. With a steady hand and positive critical acclaim, she has successfully positioned her work in galleries and on other platforms provided by various foundations and art-related organizations.

Currently, she is exhibiting alongside Carol Yurrita (whom I wrote about in January) and Mónica Torrebiarte (last week) at the exhibition hall of the National Museum of Guatemala in Antigua. Núñez's work is conceived with sensitivity. The subtleties evident in each piece seem to transcend a bygone era through their endearing and nostalgic essence. Núñez consciously conceives her iconographic repertoires, which, while maintaining a strong emotional connection, result in contemporary work born from continuous exploration in her studio.

Individual pieces can always be interpreted as paintings. However, when presented as a series of interconnected objects, depending on the space, they also take on the qualities of an installation. Along this path, Núñez has worked with certain elements, giving them a new interpretation. Are they sculptures? They could easily function as such. His "box of desire," cubes with prints, have a utilitarian purpose. One can play with them, creating predetermined compositions. Each of the works exhibited in this show is coherent and consistent with his own vision.
